Versailles and other patterns
The Versailles pattern is a flooring design classic. Owing its name to the fabulous Palace de Versailles, one of the world's great building projects where intricately patterned wooden floors replaced the old marble ones, the Versailles design consists of squares held together by what appears to be an interwoven mesh of wood strips, all within a wood frame.
Until quite recently the majority of Versailles floors were laid using individual solid wood blocks, which is clearly a time-consuming process requiring highly skilled labour. However, at Havwoods our Versailles pattern is now available pre-assembled and pre-finished in engineered panels. Once installed these look identical to floors created on site from individual blocks, but they are much quicker and easier to fit, thus making them a realistic option for any application.
Our Gord pattern is also supplied pre-assembled and pre-finished. This is a simpler design than the Versailles pattern and presents a strongly graphic visual. All are rustic grade panels which have been brushed for an antiqued appearance.
Please note that, due to the complexity of the patterns involved, few of these design panels are considered suitable for use over underfloor heating. If this is an important factor for you, please ensure that you check the technical data or call us on 01524 737000.
