Composite decking is the modern alternative to timber decking, the advantage being that it does not rot or warp and is virtually maintenance-free. WPC decking (Wood Plastic Composite) is made from wood fibre, some form of plastic and a binding agent, so the result is denser, harder and heavier than wood alone. This means that there is no danger of splinters and, since the composite will not host the growth of algae, it is anti-slip even in the wet. With no health and safety issues, this makes it ideally suited to use in commercial and public areas as well for private decks.
Composite planks look like wood and they can be worked like wood, but unlike wood, they do not need to be protected from water ingress which makes them naturally more suited to outdoor use. They will last longer than wood and do not require staining or painting at any time throughout their life.
Composite deck boards from Havwoods
At Havwoods we are passionate about wood, but when it comes to decking we reserve our passion for the composite products shown here.
We have spent years scouring the world for those that best satisfy our standards and fulfil your needs. Our deck boards are FSC® certified (FSC-C009500) and come from an exceptionally ethical European source that offers superior ecological credentials. They are particularly strong and stable, of solid construction, and are both fade- and stain-resistant. Maintenance couldn't be simpler: simply wash occasionally with clean water; any stubborn stains may be lightly sanded.
The 138 and 183mm wide boards are specifically designed to allow you to mix the widths, either to define different zones or to alternate in a pattern - a extremely interesting and attractive visual not uncommon in wood flooring but unique to Havwoods in the world of WPC decking. Complimentary trims, fascias and step nosings are available to complete your area, as is a small selection of WPC cladding.
Raised deck system
Whether you need to raise your deck a little or a lot, we are able to offer a flexible and cost-effective system that may be used with all of our decking options. Comprising aluminium support joists - stable, lightweight, corrosion- and impact-resistant - and easy-to-use, twist and lock adjustable pedestals made entirely from recycled materials, the system provides a height range of 37-1016mm in 1mm increments and is gradient adjustable, offering top and/or bottom slope correction of up to 5% in 1% increments. Installing your deckAll of our boards are easy to install. They can be machined with standard woodworking tools and comprehensive installation instructions are available here. We also stock a complete range of accessories, including ribbed and bullnose step edges, fascia boards and stainless steel fixings.
Finally, please note that we carry a small collection of composite cladding to complement our Trekker collection of decking boards.
