PROJECT: Stephen Webster salon
PRODUCTS USED: Venture Plank Fendi Herringbone

Jewellery designer Stephen Webster may be British, but he spent many years in both Canada and California where his bold style and brave use of colourful, exotic gems has a loyal following amongst freethinking, fashion-savvy, west coast clientele. In fact, it’s the Beverly Hills showroom which inspired the concept behind the discreet location of his latest jewellery salon, tucked away in a Grade II listed building in Mayfair: “in Beverley Hills, more shopping is done in the upstairs ‘No Regrets’ lounge than in the store. In response to this, we have removed the potential intrusion of a door on the street.” Stephen explains.

Mount Street salon

This is an intimate space, designed for private shopping experiences, entertaining clients and hosting parties as if they were in the designer’s own home. And so well have architects and interior designer’s Guy Holloway captured Wester’s flamboyant style that the adjectives most frequently used to describe his jewellery could equally be used to describe the space: it is bold, innovative and very glamorous.

But the path was far from smooth; in fact, the sub floor was found to be so uneven that it was feared a plank would have to be chosen in place of the originally specified block. But with help from Havwoods, our Fendi prime grade herringbone now graces a spectacular space. Dressed with a hand knotted Tibetan rug by Alexander McQueen, with chandeliers by Fredrikson Stallard and Mark Brazier-Jones, furniture pieces by Alex Turco and Tom Faulkner, and a very personal collection of artwork including pieces by Tracey Emin, we feel that it is surrounded by the level of style it truly deserves.
