Delivering your concepts as a commercially viable proposition.
Havwoods Bespoke is a new service devised to help you achieve the effects you want without having to compromise in a commercial environment. Take, for example, the diamond patterned floor designed for the Cambridge House apartments at the Berkley Group’s One Tower Bridge development. Taking their inspiration from the magnificent views of one of the world’s most iconic heritage sites, design consultancy United Designers envisaged a unique parquet design oak floor. Unfortunately, conventionally the only way to achieve this would be in solid timber, which would have been massively labour intensive, involving laying a plywood subfloor, cutting and gluing down individual small pieces of oak on site, allowing the floor to settle for a week then clearing the site completely to sand it and apply several coats of lacquer: hardly compatible with a busy site! Our solution was rather more commercially viable: to produce the floor as completed, lacquered panels off site, delivering essentially a pre-finished panel of engineered construction fully ready for installation; quicker and potentially providing a superior finish since the sanding and lacquering were undertaken in controlled factory conditions.
